![]() I know it sucks and I'm not saying you might not find a jack-legged solution to the problem.but sometimes you just gotta pay to fix it right. I'm not a service tech or anything like that, I just have one of these covers and had a problem last year with that double dog collar slipping and the service tech showed me how it worked when he was fixing the problem. I'm not sure your contractors solution would work either since they state that the pin is hardened so drilling, tapping, and reconnecting the pin would be difficult. Not sure what exact model you have and/or how old it is but if you look at this manual below on page 6 it shows a parts diagram and looks like your part is 080196.which they state is a hardened part that is press fit and not "easily replaceable as individual part".and goes on to say that you have to order the shaft assembly, either left or right. If you are thinking about dropping the pin back in and then doing a couple of tac welds to keep it from falling out I don't think that will work because that "double dog collar" needs to cam back and forth. I realize this is only somewhat pool (water) related but maybe someone else out there had this type of pool cover gearing failure and can share experience? I am sure if we contact a pool company out here in Seattle they will only suggest something like disassembling the whole thing and/or replacing it. ![]() I thought perhaps we could drop in the old bolt and give it a small weld that would be permanent. I'm a bit concerned about the permanence of drilling a new hole in that steel rod. He thinks the simplest long term fix is to re-drill a hole elsewhere on that connecting rod and the rod inside of it, tap it, and then screw the right sized screw into the new hole. Our contractor who is renovating the house tried to use some type of adhesive in there to hold it in the hole as a temp fix but it failed. The bolt can be dropped back in and it will work once and then fall out. ![]() We have a "save t cover" motorized pool cover and recently a bolt sheared off which connects the motor to a rod that spins and unspins the cover. The NEW T3 ® EVO automatic pool cover system is designed for easier installation with three mounting points featuring an adjustable bottom bracket and four spacer bars that offer enhanced support for increased stability and height adaptability. The track installation is similar to the SnapTop track with concealed screws however, it takes up less deck space, is narrower, and has an even smaller profile than SnapTop track. This stainless steel Single Dog makes the cover’s gears turn to open and close the cover. The Slim Track is designed for spas, swim spas, and small pools with Step-Saver systems. This Cover Pools Single Dog Drive Gear is part of the mechanism attached to the motor and/or the rope reel. Hi all and thanks in advance for the help. Cover Pools Single Dog Drive Gear - Left. ![]()
